Hello, all. I am currently sitting in the middle of an empty church dining area. Normally I would be in Spanish class right now, but my teacher canceled. (When I found out, I was like, 'NOOOOOOO!'), but I'm living. I am incredibly bored and already completed all my homework. At least it did me good. I had to label the parts of an earthworm like three times.😃

I have this awesome book in my backpack called Warrior of the Son. It's Christian fantasy, and self published by Samuel Schiller. It's a great book. I would read it again, but it makes me want to cry. Have you ever read a book that's so good you can't bring yourself to reread it because you don't want the thrill to go away?

I'm working on a book called Mage, and I hope that it will be that kind of book, the kind that makes you sit on the edge of your seat and makes you feel like part of the book's world... of course, sometimes I feel SO bad because, well, as an author, I must be ruthless. If a character must die, I must do it in as heartbreaking a way as possible, or as painlessly as possible. I can make a character get married, have a baby, discover a long lost cousin named Dietrich...

My main character is an eighteen year old girl named Nalletrix Jasmine Haisan. She lives a fairly normal life until she is attacked with her friend Kain. After narrowly escaping the clutches of a evil madman, she discovers several things: One, she is a mage. Two, Karin is a mage. Three, a mysterious destiny awaits her, involving an ancient prophecy and an old man named Norjar Jotham. And Four... she's being chased by a diabolically evil necromancer.

Okay, that was a shameless plug. Don't get mad at me for trying. I'm planning to publish my book soon, but it's taking a while. Despite this, though, I'll keep trying.

Do you have a dream you can't give up? Tell me about it!

Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy-Warty Hogwarts

So, I was babysitting my siblings the other day, and I was going to watch Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone with them.
Last time we had watched it, they had run around yelling 'Stupefy!' and waving sticks in the air. But I am a victim of that common mental disease, Potter mania.
I had to watch that movie. But as soon as the disk hit Main Menu, they started screaming at me.

So, as I contented them with watching Hotel Transylvania, I had to content myself with reminiscing about those amazing books.
I've been considering placing myself in a Hogwarts House permanently, but I just can't decide!
See, I feel like I'm loyal enough to be in Hufflepuff (ooh, nice rhyme,) but other times I feel like a genius.
Should all nerds fall into Ravenclaw?
I could manage Gryffindor, but I don't like their color scheme. Red and gold is a bit bold for me.
And of course, sometimes I'm in a very Slytherin mood.

So, yeah, maybe I'm a bit indecisive. What do you think? To those of you who know me, what house am I in? What house are you in?

It's at times like this when I adapt the Weasley twins' funeral dirge version of:

Hogwarts, Hogwarts, Hoggy-Warty Hogwarts,
Teach us something please..........

Farewell, fellow Potterheads.

Take the Plunge

Recently, I attended a concert in my hometown. Danny Gokey and Natalie Grant were performing, and I was so excited!

But that night was nothing like I expected. The highlight of the whole thing wasn't even in the concert.
KSPJ, a Christian radio station, was sponsoring the event, and they had tons of booths supporting the station. I was walking past one when a black man walked up to me and my mom and sister. We carried on a pleasant conversation for a few minutes. He hesitated, then asked, "By any chance, do any of y'all sing?"

I replied yes, and suddenly this man, a complete stranger, began sharing words of encouragement with me. He shared with me something he had told his own brother, "Why wait till tomorrow to start something you can do today?" He seemed to know just when I needed encouragement, and urged me to take the plunge with my music career. He related me to Lauren Daigle, one of my favorite singers and an amazing songwriter. She had started her career as a young lady in high school.

I left that night with a feeling of great peace. Since then, I have been writing song after song... realizing my true desire to sing for my Lord.

Have you ever been encouraged by a stranger? Been encouraged to take the plunge? Share it with me in the comments!

Procrastination- Every Scholar's Greatest Weakness

Today I spent most of my time on a boring assignment for school. I'm homeschooled, so usually I have a bit of freedom, but today I was dragging, partly because of a terrible sinus headache I couldn't seem to shake. I was stuck on Spanish because for once in my life I procrastinated... (grinning innocently with a guilty shrug).

I had to do a ridiculously large crossword puzzle for Spanish vocabulary, and since I crammed, I had to be a bit selective with what assignments I did. My teacher usually grades three items a week. Naturally, I expected it to be the translation sentences I had worked so hard on, the book work, and vocabulary! So, I skipped the crossword (crucigrama in Spanish, if anyone wants to know.)

And what do you think happened? She skipped the bookwork and graded the crossword. Poop.
I felt SO bad! I definitely learned a lesson, but also was slightly embarrassed upon admitting to a classmate that I had done half my homework on the way to class!

Not exactly my M.E.M. (Most Embarrassing Moment), but it showed me a lot about following instructions! Do you have any funny school stories that were a bit embarrassing? What did you learn? Tell me about it in the comments!

Nerd-geek? Neek? Gerd? No. GENIUS.

I was asked a question today that made me think. 'What if I am a nerd and a geek? What's that called?' Well, after brainstorming, I invented a word for it-

The word for a person who is a nerd and a geek is...
A nerdgeek.

No, I'm kidding. The word is GENIUS.

You think I'm kidding? We are geniuses at heart, because if we obsess over something hard and long enough, we grow to know EVERYTHING about it. Therefore, I can call myself a genius.

(Now I'm dancing for joy. Well, mentally, at least. I stink at dancing.) n

🎶 This Is My Story...🎶

Hello all! Welcome to A Homeschool Nerd's Tale!
This is my story, almost like a diary but without all the SUPER-personal stuff. If you are a nerd and you know it, this is a place to share that with me and with others in your situation. If someone else called you a nerd and you're just not sure, this is a superb way to learn all about the stranger group of us humans known as nerds.

Some people get the words nerd and geek mixed up. So, I will give a few accurate definitions.

Nerd: An intelligent person obsessed with something specified, for example, 'computer nerd.'

Geek: A person with excessive enthusiasm or knowledge about a subject, for example, 'a Harry Potter geek.'

So, now that we have that base knowledge laid out, that definition includes everyone, right? So no matter who you are, I can guarantee that you will be entertained and informed by this blog. Also, I welcome you to share your opinions, views, or stories in the comments!

One Thing I Forgot To Mention
